Why Open Your Doors Exists

Since 2020, entry-level roles have collapsed. Graduate schemes have shrunk. Traditional first jobs, in retail, hospitality, and beyond, are being automated away. Thousands of young people are graduating into silence: no networks, no internships, no opportunities.

At the same time, conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion have become complicated, full of jargon and politics that many people don’t connect with. But the truth is simple. This isn’t about jargon.

It’s about people. It’s about doors.

What We Stand For

Every one of us knows what it feels like to have a door opened for us, someone giving us a first job, introducing us to a mentor, or taking a chance on our potential. We also know what it feels like when doors stay closed.

Open Your Doors is about making access real.

Not everyone has the same doors open to them. But together, we can change that.

Our Belief

You don’t need to be an expert in social mobility or DEI to be part of this movement. You just need to believe one thing:

Every young person deserves the same chance to walk through the doors of opportunity, no matter where they come from.

What We Do

Open Your Doors Day (18th September):

A national day of action where employers host young people inside their offices and take part in one of the UK’s largest virtual speed-mentoring events.

Professionals and individuals who give their time, networks, or voice to empower the next generation.

Monthly themed mentoring events connecting industries and young people year-round.
